  22. v.32 is a 14.4kbps protocol.  28.8 could be v.34 or v.fc.

  26. Have you verified that the modem hangs up on a variety of other
  27. modems?  I mean is it hanging up on your ISP only? Or have you found
  28. that it also hangs up on local BBS's?  Also, is there any regularity
  29. to the time of day that the hangups occur?

  31. Sometimes narrowing down such details gives surprising results.  It
  32. may well be that there's a problem with the modem, but there are about
  33. a gazillion other things that could be responsible too.
